Regardless of the approach used, the EMM Audit & Compliance Service ensures that smartphone policies remain persistent by performing a compliance check on all smartphones before they enter the corporate network.  This ensures that only those devices configured with the proper software and policies are allowed to access corporate data.  The flexibility of this approach allows the platform to be used with both hosted and IT-supported email services.  Since the EMM Access Manager operates in the DMZ, IT does not have to publish ActiveSync directly to the Internet, providing an added layer of security.
