EMM Platform Delivers iPhone Support for SCEP, Profile Services and Bonded Compliance Enforcement for iPhone OS

McLean, Virginia – October 19, 2009 – Trust Digital, the leader in enterprise mobility management (EMM) for smartphones, today announced Trust Digital EMM support for Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP), profile services and bonded compliance enforcement.  This release delivers profile services that implement Apple’s three-phase process to automate configuration of iPhones for business use, including requirements for user authentication, certificate enrollment and device configuration. Trust Digital’s software also provides new patent-pending compliance controls to ensure that IT policies and profile configurations remain persistent on user devices.

“Apple has developed guidance – an IT blueprint of sorts – for how CIOs can meet their user’s call for the iPhone on a broad scale,” said David Goldschlag, president and CTO for Trust Digital. “Our latest release of the EMM platform productizes the building blocks of the Apple blueprint and adds our own enhanced facilities for compliance enforcement while enabling large-scale – and verifiable – iPhone adoption of policies and configurations in a business setting.”

While other vendors rely on Exchange 2007 to help manage the iPhone, the Trust Digital EMM platform provides a comprehensive approach to iPhone management that is independent of an enterprise’s email infrastructure. The latest version of the EMM platform includes:

  • SCEP-Enabled Certificate Authority: using the SCEP, EMM is able to serve as a standalone certificate authority thereby enabling it to sign and encrypt configuration profiles. This capability allows EMM to securely configure user credentials - including passwords - on the device, which results in a simplified process of enrolling devices with enterprise services.
  • Enhanced Configuration Profile Services: auto-generated based on the user’s credentials and group membership and can be signed and encrypted.
  • Bonded Policy Compliance: the EMM Access Manager checks compliance of all iPhones before entering the corporate network to ensure that ActiveSync policies and configuration profiles remain persistent. This is enabled by Trust Digital’s patent-pending profile service software that logically binds ActiveSync policies and iPhone configuration profiles for compliance purposes.
  • Expanded Agent Functionality:  downloaded from the Apple App Store, the EMM Agent enables business users to automatically activate device security policies and configure device settings for secure access to corporate email.  Once connected with the EMM Server, the EMM Agent provides critical information to IT about the user’s device including device identifiers such as model type, supporting carrier, software version and an indicator as to whether the device is jail broken (a term used to refer to when a phone has been loaded with non-approved applications not available on the Apple App Store).
