Trust Digital Adds Major Air Force Command to its Growing Customer Roster

U.S. Pacific Air Forces Turns to Trust Digital for Smartphone Security and
Mobility Management Systems

McLean, Virginia, – September 8, 2008 – Showcasing the increased adoption of its technology, Trust Digital – the leading enterprise mobility management provider – today announced the United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF) will deploy the company’s software to protect and manage Windows Mobile smartphones used by airmen across the command.  Headquartered at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii and with bases in Alaska, Japan, Korea and Guam, PACAF is one of two Air Force major commands outside of the continental United States.  PACAF's primary mission is to provide ready air and space power to promote U.S. interests in the Asia-Pacific region during peacetime, through crisis and in war.

Because the U.S. military is one of the largest mobile workforces in the country, the smartphone security and management needs of each command are extremely varied and complex.  PACAF required a secure solution for Windows Mobile smartphones across the entire command, with the scale to span international boundaries and provide sufficient back-up should anything happen at the main base.  Trust Digital was the only solution provider that met the stringent requirements set forth by PACAF. 

In fact, Trust Digital’s smartphone security software client is the only mobile product that meets the latest updates to the Defense Information Systems Agency's (DISA) Wireless Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) for Windows Mobile Messaging Wireless Email Systems for the Department of Defense (DoD).  With Trust Digital, the Windows Mobile devices used by PACAF meet the rigorous standards set forth in the STIG, including required actions for when a device is lost or stolen, smartcard authenticated login procedures using a Common Access Card (CAC) to unlock a wireless email device and Bluetooth functionality security.  

Also, with Trust Digital’s solution the classified messages sent by PACAF stay within its own network operations center (NOC). This offers PACAF – and other DoD and Federal agencies like it – tighter control of information and enhanced auditing capabilities that are features existing BlackBerry solutions do not offer.  With this deployment, PACAF was able to reduce the overhead associated with purchasing and maintaining a BlackBerry server, including the high costs for specialized administrators to manage the BlackBerry system and troubleshoot user issues.
