GENERAL BUSINESS / LARGE ENTERPRISE

As enterprises both large and small embrace the idea of employee mobility their IT groups are acutely aware of the challenges created when providing the organization with secure, ubiquitous access to their corporate networks.

Mobility Drivers

While smartphones and PDAs may be an employee's most relied upon device to stay connected, for the IT groups responsible for securing these devices when one becomes lost or stolen the result can be catastrophic if a company’s secrets and their clients' data becomes exposed to the world.

In 2006 Trust Digital purchased ten (10) different smartphones on eBay to test our enterprise mobility management device agent software. Presumably the smartphones had been wiped clean by their owners prior to being sold on eBay, however nearly all the information was resurrected during this study. In fact 27,000 pages of information – measuring to a height of approximately eight (8) feet – were available including:

  • One company’s plan to win a multimillion dollar federal transportation contract
  • Emails about another firm's $50,000 payment for a software license
  • Bank accounts and passwords
  • Detailed prescriptions and receipts for utility payments
  • Email proposals for International partnerships

While many of the smartphones were owned personally by the sellers they contained heaps of sensitive corporate information that underscores the blurring lines between work and home. In a recently published CIO Magazine survey titled "The Fifth Annual Global State of Information Security" CIOs found that "employees" beat out "hackers" as the most likely source of a security incident.

Ensuring User Compliance

IT groups are well versed in the planning, implementation, support and the monitoring required to maintain control of laptop and desktop systems, however similar controls must be implemented for mobile devices.

Trust Digital provides the most effective enterprise mobility management platform available to address security compliance needs for mobility – and it is fast and easy to implement. Because compliance is an ongoing process rather than a one-time event, the Trust Digital enterprise mobility management platform provides a comprehensive facility to manage, report and enforce security compliance.
